Our Training Competencies

KGS officer competencies can vary depending on the specific assignment and sector. We go above and beyond to equip our officers with the skills needed to stay safe and work responsibly. In addition, we provide comprehensive on-the-job training, personalised coaching, and valuable mentoring opportunities to enhance our colleagues’ learning experience.

SIA – In accordance with the Private Security Industry Act 2001, we require that our security officers be licensed members of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). We continuously support our officers in maintaining their licence throughout their time with us through funded SIA licence renewals. Through SIA membership, our officers have access to the following training modules:

  • SIA CCTV
  • SIA Door Supervisor
  • SIA Security Officer
  • SIA TOP UP

Counter Terrorism – Counter terrorism training is included in the suite of annual training our officers receive and is adapted each year to reflect the national threat level and current trends.

Weapons Awareness – Gun and knife crime is on the rise in the UK. Therefore, our officers are equipped with specialised weapons awareness training, alongside advanced screening and searching training, to effectively identify and respond to weapon crime.

First Aid – It is critical that security officers are trained to perform first aid to help protect themselves and members of the public from serious injury. Therefore, our officers receive continuous first-aid training throughout their careers – covering first aid actions for medical emergencies, handling skills, EpiPen and defibrillator use and basic treatments – to ensure they’re prepared.

Health and Safety – Prevention is better than the cure. We deliver a comprehensive suite of health and safety training to our officers – with annual refresher training – to empower them to take a proactive approach to safeguarding themselves, their colleagues and the public. We deliver L2 Health and Safety, L2 Risk Assessment, manual handling and conflict management training.

Fire Marshal – In the event of a fire, properly-trained security officers are instrumental in assisting fire wardens, reducing panic and ensuring the public are directed to the nearest fire exits/safe areas. Fire safety training is delivered to our office on an annual basis, including Waking Watch training, which teaches our officers how to detect fires early and begin evaluation procedures before a fire spreads out of control.

Customer Service – Just like dedicated customer service staff, security officers are representatives of both our organisation and yours. To ensure that your customers have an excellent experience dealing with our officers, we deliver customer service training that aligns with your current customer service approach.

Every day, our officers will interact with people, whether internal staff or members of the public, from all walks of life; to reflect this, we deliver cultural awareness training to help our officers operate in a wide variety of sectors and circumstances.
